FAQ
Questions and Answers - especially about wedding services

Why do you need a shelter at outdoor events? The instruments we play on are fragile and are very costly to have repaired should damage occur.  Imagine a rare piece of wood furniture being exposed to direct sunlight or rain!  As a rule, if the elements are disagreeable to a human, they most likely will be bad for the stringed instruments.

Would you come to our rehearsal?

The purpose of the wedding rehearsal is to organize the people involved in the series of ceremonial events.  Therefore, it is not necessary for us to attend the wedding rehearsal.  We have performed for many weddings and are very familiar with the ceremonial order.  If, however, you have a special need for us to attend, we will do so at our regular rate, or one musician can attend at a rate of $50 per hour.

What is the difference between a trio and a quartet?  Simply put, the three voices of the string trio create the essential harmonies in tonal music.  The added voice of the second violin in the quartet allows the melody in the first violin to be freer while the second violin provides the harmony.

Do the musicians take a break? Performing is both physically and mentally exhausting.  We take a 15 minute break after every hour.  Of course, we will arrange our breaks to coordinate with toasts, speeches and other special moments during your event.

Is the ensemble always comprised of the same performers? Tempus prefers to perform with our original members.  There are times, however, when illness or previous commitments prevent us from doing so.  Should this situation occur, we have strong connections with other professional musicians who can easily substitute.

How far in advance shall I contact you?  Anytime you decide you want us to play for your event, feel free to contact us to request the date.  We like to book the date as soon as possible in order to guarantee the date for you.

What will you wear to our event?   As is traditional for musicians at formal events, we will wear black unless otherwise requested.
